SPRAT48 Sternal Attachment 48" Lanyard w/ 2.5 Inch Aluminum Hook.
100% Tie Off twin lanyard legs are made from 12 mm BlueWater Armortech Rope and 2.5" opening aluminum ANSI Certified Large Snap Hooks. Certified for 6 ft Freefall Potential. Designed specifically for Rope Access Work and Transmission Tower workers who want a Fall Protection Lanyard for sternal harness attachment. Designed for sternal attachment for Y style harnesses only. Not recommended for sternal attachment on H style harnesses.
Designed with new low-bulk Dyneema tear tape that eliminates backup webbing in the shock pack. Maximum length of lanyard is 48". Lanyard has a new YATES Large (1.75") ANSI rigging ring between shock pack and Armortech rope legs. The large rigging ring allows for the lanyard legs to be used in a tie-back configuration. Captive eye ANSI certified carabiner used to connect shock pack to users sternal D-ring on harness. This 100% Tie Off Lanyard is specifically designed to be incorporated into the sternal D-ring on harnesses certified to the new ANSI Z359.14 Standard. This new harness standard from ANSI allows for sternal fall protection attachment of lanyards. Weight: 1lb 12oz.
• YATES Large rigging ring is hot forged from 7075-T6 aircraft aluminum plate. Durable "Hard Coat" anodized. Certification by UL for NFPA "G" and ANSI Z359.1. Individually proof loaded to 3,600 lbf. Anchor Ring inside diameter 1.75". Strength 5,625 lbf. (25 kN).
•Yates Gear has developed "State-of-the-art" technology in shock absorbing tear tapes. Past generation tear tapes all required a structural backup webbing following the tear tapes to accomplish the 22kN (5,000 lbf) ANSI required ultimate strength. YATES latest technology has incorperated Dyneema® fibers into the core of the tear tape webbing so that a back up webbing is no longer required. This results in a loss of bulk in the shock pack of approximately 50%.
The 48" SPRAT lanyard that Yates is now producing with this new Dyneema® fiber tear tape is quite unique. It passes both 8 ft Free Fall(Factor 2) Free Fall using 6 ft free fall tear tape with am maximum elongation of 48" and keeps the average activation under 900 lbf.
• Maximum free fall distance allowed 6 feet (FF 2). Full activation of lanyard extends absorber an additional 48 inches. Individually serial and lot numbered
• New 2.5" opening aluminum ANSI Certified Large Snap Hooks located on 12 mm Armortech rope legs legs meet 3600 lbf. (15kN) side load gate strength requirements of ANSI Z359.12-2009 standard.
• Certified to meet ANSI/ASSE Z359.12-2009 and ANSI/ASSE Z359.13-2009 standard
SPECIAL NOTICE ON STERNAL ATTACHMENT OF LANYARD FOR FALL ARREST.
ANSI Z359.11-2014 Sternal Attachment
3.2.2 Sternal.
The sternal attachment may be located as shown in Figure 4, and used as an alternative fall arrest attachment in applications where the dorsal attachment is determined to be inappropriate by a competent person and where there is no chance to fall in a direction other than feet first.
E3.2.2 See Figure 2(a) & 4. The sternal attachment element should be used only when the likely fall distance is not greater than 2 ft.
3.2.2.2 When loaded at the sternal attachment to arrest a fall, the design of the FBH (full body harness) shall direct load through the shoulder straps supporting the user and around the thighs.
